Conseil consultatif des étudiants
Thank you for your interest in the Virginia Department of Education’s Student Advisory Board. We have moved from a student application process to a superintendent nomination process. Information was sent to all regional superintendents, who were asked to provide the names and application materials of student candidates. The regional superintendent nomination portion of the process has closed.
We also recognize that there is not only a greater need for student feedback in Virginia, but also for student leadership in education. Therefore, we are pleased to let you know about a new leadership opportunity coming soon for interested students. The Elevating Student Leadership & Voice Ambassador Program will launch later this year and will invite open applications from students across Virginia. This program can include more than one student per region, and will offer opportunities to:
- Share student perspectives on key issues in education with key leaders at the VDOE and in the Secretary of Education’s office
- Participate in leadership learning experiences with select government officials
- Provide input that informs state-level policy discussions for the General Assembly and the Virginia Board of Education
- Serve in potential leadership roles within the group
The program will be mostly virtual, allowing students from around the Commonwealth to participate and make connections with young people with similar interests in education, leadership, and policy.
If you would like to receive updates about the Elevating Student Leadership & Voice Program and be notified when applications open, please complete the interest form here.
